The lucky Lottery player said that he was on his way to a job site when he decided to stop at Luke's Liquors on North 3rd Street in Oakland, where he cashed in a winning $2 ticket and purchased a $2 quick-pick for the next drawing on Monday, Oct. 21.

After stashing the ticket away, the Garrett County man went to another local retailer the following day, where he discovered that he won the five-figure prize after matching four white balls and the Powerball.

The winning numbers for the drawing on Monday, Oct. 21 were 01-25-57-62-64 with a Powerball of 15 and Power Play multiplier of X2.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said the big winner. “I almost won the jackpot, just one number off.”

Astonished, the winner said he couldn't believe his eyes and rushed home to show his wife, who confirmed that they indeed won $50,000.

She said "he was so excited that he made himself sick."

It marks the 51st third-tier winning Powerball ticket sold in Maryland in 2024.
